Meet The Staff

Cynthia Sabovick - Director and Owner of Dance Exposure II. She has studied with many New York and New Jersey professional teachers and schools including - NYC Broadway Dance Center. She specializes in all disciplines of dance that include but are not limited to ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, tap, and modern. Although Cynthia is an amazing dancer herself and could have chosen to pursue a performance career, she has been dedicated to sharing her passion for dance with children. Her artistic abilities are limitless and that is clearly evident when you watch any of her students perform. As an award winning choreographer Miss Cyndi’s students have received regional and national performance exposure (including Florida’s Citrus Bowl Half-Time Performance and NJN Television Station). Cynthia’s students continue to receive many title and high score awards in competitions throughout the east coast.

Kelly Durfee – Kelly began working with Dance Exposure II in 2005. Although Kelly works as a volunteer, she has been responsible for major tasks such as the relocation and expansion of Dance Exposure II in 2006. Kelly earned her BS in Business with a major in Accounting and minor in Finance in 1990. She received a MBA with a concentration in International Finance in 1994. After working seven years in her chosen career field, Kelly decided to leave the work force to raise her first daughter, and later her twins. Kelly’s involvement with Dance Exposure II has meant everything from business management to costuming and “rhinestoning”. She is dedicated to making sure that every student enjoys themselves while dancing with Dance Exposure II.

June Lopez - June began her dance education at Performing Arts High School in New Jersey. She continued at New York University’s Tish School of the Arts. June performed in a variety of Modern/Jazz companies. She owned and operated her own studio for ten years. During that time, she enjoyed success in training students from ages preschool thru collegiate levels. Several of her students are pursuing professional careers in dance. Today, Ms. Lopez continues as a dance educator and a judge in the tri-state area. June founded Elite Dance Forum in 1998. During the past eight years, members have participated in network meetings and special events. The Forum’s benefit performances have raised over $30,000 for charities.

Rosemary Sabovick-Bleich - Rosemary joined our staff in 1997. She trained with Gertrude Weinburg, Alfredo Corvino and Douglas Wassell. At the age of twelve, she was chosen to perform with the Bolshoi Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House. In 1980, she joined the NJ Ballet Company. In 1981, Rosemary toured the U.S.A., Puerto Rico and Canada with the Pavlova Celebration. Upon her return to the NJ Ballet, she worked her way up the ranks to Principal Ballerina. She held that position until 2002 when she retired to raise her two daughters. Now Rosemary maintains many teaching positions in the tri-state area.

Brandon Simmons – Brandon has had so many performance accomplishments. Some of them include dancer for the Jennifer Hudson Concert, Kristine W Concert, Swing City, Stage to Screen, Now and Forever, Boogie Wonderland, Beat Goes On, Jump Jive Swing, 2003 US Open, Proud Mary, and West Side Story. He has also modeled for “DANSE”, sponsored by MAC Cosmetics. His training includes ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and ballroom.

Sharon Uyar - Sharon began dancing locally at a young age, and has performed on both a competitive and professional levels. As a Principle Dancer and Soloist with the New Jersey Tap Ensemble, she has performed at venues such as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Town Hall, NYC. Sharon has also served as Dance Captain to NJTE Artistic Director, Deborah Mitchell, and Coordinator and Choreographer of the Ensemble’s Teen Repertory Company. As a rhythm tap artist, Sharon has worked with choreographers such as Savion Glover, Michael Minery, Karen Callaway Williams, Andrew Nemr, and Parris Mann. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Montclair State University in 2001. Sharon went on to perform with Six Degrees Dance Company. Proficient in tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, lyrical, ballet, and contemporary dance, Sharon has traveled across the country to give master classes and workshops, set choreography, and judge various dance competitions.

Laura Vendetta – This is Laura’s second year with Dance Exposure II. She has been studying dance since the age of three. Laura has taught at studios in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Currently Laura is a student at Rider University and will be graduating next year with a BFA in dance. Laura brings a variety of new ideas to her classes.
